Ahmednagar is a prominent city in the district of Ahmednagar located in Maharashtra. It is in between Pune, 120 km to the north-west and Aurangabad 114 km away from it. The city has got its name from Ahmad Nizam Shah I, its original founder. It was founded in 1494 on the very sight of a battlefield, where he won a resounding victory against the Bahamani armed forces.

His victory broke the Bahamani Sultanate after which he established his own kingdom also known as the Nizam Shahi dynasty. Thus the birth of Ahmednagar was scripted in the books of history.

A very small town with insignificant development as compared to the other districts and regions of Maharashtra, it mostly comprises farm land even to this day. It is home to a few industries like the sugar industry. Otherwise, it is mostly rural in nature and a lot of Farm land for Sale is still available.

The Climate Of Ahmednagar

Though the region is mostly rural with a lot of Farm land for Sale in Ahmednagar, the climate of the region is a bit on the offside. This is mainly attributed to the fact that the region mostly falls in the rain shadow region of the Western Ghats. The climate is mostly hot throughout the year but it becomes uncomfortable and stifling during the pre-monsoon months from March to about mid-June.

Then arrives the monsoon, when it rains in the district but with an average rainfall as compared to the capital city of Mumbai. It receives one-third the rain compared to Mumbai and one-tenth the rain compared to Mahabaleshwar on the crest of the Western Ghats.

Transportation To And From The District

Air connectivity to the city is very restricted. It is connected by the Seaplane service whose port is located on the Mula Dam just 30minutes away from the city. Another service is offered by Maritime Energy Heli Air Services Pvt. Ltd. and the services are from Juhu in Mumbai to Mula Dam.

But the city is well connected by rail and road. It is connected to almost the entire state of Maharashtra, Goa, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. It sees the stoppage of 41 express trains at its railway station.

It is well connected by road to all the major cities of Maharashtra by the MSRTC, the state-run bus service. Intra-city transport is also good with cheap buses and autorickshaws plying its roads.
